Can a full moon impact labour?

Ever heard someone say that you are more likely to give birth during a full moon?

It’s definitely one of those old wives tales that keeps on going around… but is there any evidence to back this up?

THE MOON AND WATER:

The combination of Earth’s gravity and the gravitational pull of the moon creates a phenomenon called ‘tidal force’, which causes our ocean tides to change. Essentially meaning that the moon is responsible for these changes!

Super interesting isn’t it?

THE HUMAN BODY AND WATER:

For a female adult, it’s estimated that around 55% of their bodies consists of…. WATER!!!!

That’s right… over HALF of your body is water!

THE MOON AND THE HUMAN BODY:

Anecdotally, lots of birth workers report more births happening around a full moon!

What do studies say about this though?

THE MOON, BIRTH AND STUDIES:

There have been several studies around this subject and unfortunately no confirmation that it is true…
